NHRA driver's ‘Fuel for the Fight’ will raise
money to help Keith Ramsey battle cancer

NHRA Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence of Kilgore fought his fight against cancer and won.  Now he wants to help a friend, Keith Ramsey, in his battle with the insidious disease.

“We’re going to have the ‘Fuel for the Fight’ Classic and Hot Rod Car Show on Saturday, July 9, at Leon’s Steakhouse Saloon, 2112 S. Eastman Road in Longview, Texas,” said Torrence.  “We are inviting all the owners of classic cars and hot rods to come to Leon’s and show them off from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.”

A Model Search will also be featured.  Anonymous celebrity judges will decide the top three car show entries and the top three car show models.  First-place finishers in car show and car show model will each receive $1,000, while $500 apiece goes to second place and $250 to the two in third.

“At the end of 2000, I found myself in a fight for my life, battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer,” Torrence said.  “Fortunately, after many prayers from friends and family, and nothing short of a miracle, I was able to win that fight.  We want Keith to win his fight, too.”

The car show pre-registration deadline cost is $15 per car and $5 per show model.  Registration on July 9 will be $25 per car and $10 for car show model.

There will be a live auction, bands and food.  No one under 21 is allowed.
