TORRENCE IN 10TH SPOT FOR SUNDAY’S AUTO-PLUS NATIONALS

October 6, 2012 -- Steve Torrence draws a familiar Top Fuel foe Sunday – Antron Brown – when the Auto-Plus Nationals unfold at Maple Grove Raceway. 

The two Top Fuel drivers squared off last Sunday in the second round at St. Louis and Brown got the round win, and then added two more before going to the winner’s circle.

Torrence finished Saturday’s qualifying in 10th place with a best of 3.803 seconds at 321.04 mph while Brown was seventh, 3.758 at 325.14 mph.  It is likely Torrence will have some drivers rooting for him in this one because Brown is currently the Full Throttle Series point leader, 21 better than Spencer Massey.

“We are optimistic about this race. It is the fourth of six Countdown races,” said Torrence. “We do need to get by Antron and add to our points.  We hope to move up a place or two.”

He goes into eliminations seventh in points.
