TORRENCE SIXTH GOING INTO SATURDAY’S FINAL
QUALIFYING; EX-COWBOY’S QB DANNY WHITE VISITS TEAM

February 10, 2012 -- Although he didn’t improve his elapsed time during Friday’s second day of Top Fueling qualifying at NHRA’s Winternationals, Steve Torrence slipped two places to sixth but remained solidly in the 16-car starting lineup going into Saturday’s final two runs.

His Torrence Racing/Capco Contractors dragster nonetheless posted a respectable time of 3.892 seconds at 314.97 mph on another warm and sunny Southern California afternoon.  His first lap was 3.857 seconds at 318.39.

“It was still a good day,” said Torrence, of Kilgore, Texas.  “We wanted more out of the car but the tune-up was a little soft in the middle of the track.  It was fairly consistent in the warmer weather.

“We have two runs on Saturday and conditions should be better for our first one at 11(a.m.).  We will try to step up the performance on both runs.”

 Danny White visits Torrence

Torrence introduced former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Danny White to NHRA Full Throttle racing action on Friday Pomona.

“I was super pumped up to have Danny White and the people from his company, Bod HD, as our guests.” Torrence said.  “We were pleased to host them and introduce them to our sport.  Bod HD is an up and coming health and wellness business.  To find out more about it, go to nitro.bod.hd.com.”

White was impressed with what he saw.

“I was amazed at all the preparation and work that goes into a roughly three and half-second run,” White commented.  He noted that time also correlated with his former occupation.

“That is about the same time a pro quarterback has in the pocket to make a throw,” he said.  “But I got to do it 60 times a game, and Steve just gets to race once (Friday).”
