BILLY TORRENCE LOOKING FORWARD TO FATHER-SON RACE

October 3, 2013 -- At first, Billy Torrence was hesitant about committing to drive a Top Fuel dragster.  Now, after racing in his first four Mello Yello NHRA Series events, the guy also known as Steve Torrence’s dad is pleased with the results.

“Qualifying at all of the races I entered is definitely a good feeling,” he said.
“However, we haven’t had any success since our first race at Indianapolis.

“The crew chiefs say there are too many things that can go wrong with these temperamental cars, and we are discovering that is true.  We haven’t had a first-round win in the last three races.”

It also has been an arduous task as well for the new team.  Its fourth consecutive race – the Auto-Plus Nationals at Reading, PA -- begins Friday.

“Originally the goal was to help Steve win the championship and we still want to help him move up in the standings, but at this point I’m looking forward to the day we get to race head to head on the track because I think we can give his team a run for its money.”
