TORRENCE LOOKING FOR SUCCESS IN COUNTDOWN RACES

September 12, 2013 -- Coming off of a near perfect performance at the U.S Nationals, Steve Torrence is looking to propel himself into the thick of what promises to be a scintillating Top Fuel championship battle.

"It's a tall order for sure starting from the number nine spot,” Torrence remarked, “but I feel like we have a really good hot rod. I have a lot of confidence going into this Countdown. Anything can happen!"

The team is prepped and ready to begin its march Friday at the Carlyle Tools Carolina Nationals. It is the start of the six-race challenge for the Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship race at zMax Dragway, Bruton Smith’s drag racing Taj Majal in Charlotte, NC.

Torrence had two runner-up finishes in one weekend – the Traxxas shoot out and the U.S. Nationals – both of which were to Shawn Langdon and the Al Anabi team. He also had the low e.t. of the race at 3.775 seconds and re-set the track speed record at 328.38 mph.

"This team is hungry to put the CAPCO car into the winner’s circle. We have a point to prove." Torrence concluded.

“While we wanted the outcome of those races to be different, we were happy to get to the finals. We learned some things that will be beneficial for these next six races.”
