STEVE TAKES ON PAT DAKIN IN CAROLINA OPENER

September 14, 2013 -- Steve Torrence was in a very good mood Saturday as he was leaving zMAX Dragway for dinner and a relaxing evening before Sunday’s first NHRA Countdown series playoff race – the Carlyle Tools Carolina Nationals at Charlotte, NC.

“We had a good day and a good weekend so far,” said the Texas native who will start fifth in the Top Fuel field on the strength of Friday night’s 3.787-second time at 327.59 mph.  “Our Torrence Racing/Capco Contractors Inc. dragster is really running well and we want it to continue.”

What Torrence also would like to do is pick up as many Mello Yello Series points available to add to his collection.  He is ninth in standings and looking to move upward.

He meets Pat Dakin who qualified fifth, 318.22 mph at 3126.90 mph.
