BILLY TORRENCE WANTS A ROUND WIN OR TWO

September 28, 2013 -- Consistency was Billy Torrence’s qualifying mode on three of his four runs en route to his 11th quickest Top Fuel run for Sunday’s AAA Midwest Nationals.

On each run he is picking up more knowledge about how to handle the 8,000-horsepower, 300 mph dragsters.  His best here, 3.855 seconds at 315.34 mph, came Saturday evening.  It was his second 3.8-second lap here.

“I was able to make three good runs,” he said.  “I also learn something on run.”

He starts two places behind his son Steve’s 3.818 at 323.43 mph.

“We are going through a little rough spot that we hope to take care of here,” he commented.  “We want to get first-round wins . . . and we don’t want to stop there.”
